Our Services

Media
Blasting

Media Blasting is our preferred method to strip a log home.

We use a variety of mediums in conjunction with a sand blasting pot and a commercial grade compressor to remove old finishes from wood surfaces. We primarily use crushed glass but have used crushed walnut as well.

Log
Washing

Log Washing should be a part of every annual maintenance for log homes or any wood structure. We use soap that is specifically designed to wash away dirt, mold, and mildew while not changing the PH of the wood.

Osborne Brushing

An Osborne Brush is designed to buff wood back down to a smooth surface after media blasting and/or power washing.

It is a buffing wheel made out of nylon bristles attached to a polisher ran to remove wood fuzz and smooth out rough wood grain.

Energy Sealing

Energy Sealing is a process in which we caulk log seams, windows, and door trims and use a closed cell foam product to fill gaps where needed. We use a log home specific caulk that has a small amount of texture and is designed to accept stain unlike materials you can get at your local hardware store. If you are having issues with wind, water, or pests it may be time for an energy sealing of your home.

Chinking

Chinking a log home is the process in which you seal logs with a textured mortared like material much like caulk but designed to stretch up to ¾ of inch with the natural movement of a home. Chinking is used to fill gaps in between logs where the wood does not touch completely. Not all homes need to be chinked but when needed, it can dramatically change the look of a home.

Full & Half Log Replacement

Unfortunately, if not taken care of properly, a log home can literally fall apart around you. Log rot replacement is something that most log homes will have to go through at least once in the life of the home. Bad designs, poor gutters, and a variety of other issues can create a need for log rot replacement. Full and Half Log Replacement is something that we here at TKO specialize in.

Professional Grade Staining

Log walls, decks, railing and pretty much all exterior wood surfaces need regular maintenance to avoid future issues. We use Pro Grade materials that are designed specifically for the application in question. We are a preferred log home contractor with most major log home stain companies in North America.
